The relations between Russia and Armenia are described as dynamic political dialogue, including dialogue at a high level. This is what Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov declared during a joint press conference with his Armenian counterpart Zohrab Mnatsakanyan in Moscow.

According to him, amid the coronavirus pandemic, both countries have succeeded in advancing their contacts by maximally applying the remote format. Starting from this year, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan have held seven conversations, the heads of governments — three conversations, the last of which was held on October 9 when the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation was in Yerevan to attend the session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.

During the pandemic, Russia has transferred coronavirus tests to Armenia, and virologists of the Russian Ministry of Defense have been based in Armenia since April. Armenian airline companies have carried out 79 flights to Russia, and nearly 10,000 Armenians have returned to Armenia.

According to Lavrov, the growth of Armenian-Russian trade turnover comprised 26%, reaching $2,500,000,000. Despite the economic downturn, the two countries succeeded in avoiding reduction of trade turnover, and based on the data of the past seven months, the amount of the trade turnover hasn’t changed compared with the previous year.
