A source of the Elysee Palace Tuesday told reporters that France is concerned over Turkey’s operations in the Mediterranean and its potential role in the development of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and anticipates explanations from Ankara.

“The President of France has already expressed concern over Turkey’s role in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. France is concerned that [President of Turkey Tayyip] Erdogan is multiplying his ventures, without taking into consideration the need for common security. France would like to receive clarifications regarding this from Turkey,” the source reported, according to TASS.

The source added that ‘sending Syrian militants to the Karabakh front’ creates a ‘geostrategic risk’. In this regard, the interlocutor underscored the continuation of diplomatic efforts to prevent the development of the conflict, closely cooperating with Russia. “The ceasefire agreement needs to be observed since it lays the foundation for further progress. We are following the development of the situation very closely,” the source added.
