A case regarding protection of the rights of another five servicemen who have been in captivity during the large-scale war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh in the early hours of 27 September 2020 has been submitted to the European Court of Human Rights. The servicemen in captivity are Samvel Asatryan, Albert Mikayelyan, Edik Tonoyan, Valery Hayrapetyan and Arsen Karapetyan.

Based on the videos disseminated via Azerbaijani media outlets, the specified persons have been identified, and on behalf of their families, applications have been submitted to the European Court of Human Rights with the claim for application of a pressing measure in regard to the protection of the right to life and the right to be free from inhumane treatment.

The European Court of Human Rights had requested from the Government of Azerbaijan documented information about their location, conditions for keeping and medical services. The Court has set a period until November 3, 2020 to provide the requested information.
