Secretary-General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Stanislav Zas today told reporters that the CSTO welcomes the cessation of hostilities in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, TASS reported.

“We positively assess the cessation of hostilities in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone. This was made possible after the signing of the relevant statement by the Presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia. We welcome all actions that are being taken to establish peace and stop bloodshed in the region. The CSTO has made several calls to the conflicting parties to return to the ceasefire regime and settle the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict exclusively through peaceful negotiations,” he said.

The CSTO Secretary-General also positively assessed the deployment of a peacekeeping contingent in the region.
