YEREVAN. – The rally by 17 opposition parties of Armenia, and demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, is getting underway at Liberty Square in downtown Yerevan.

Opposition Prosperous Armenia Party MP Iveta Tonoyan noted, however, that before the start of this rally, the leaders of all these 17 political forces were summoned to the Special Investigation Service. "They [the authorities] are trying to deprive them [these leaders] of talking to the people and telling the whole truth which we have been saying for days and will continue to say. This clearly shows the authorities' fears that they are just terrified of a wave of popular anger," she said.

The organizers of the rally have brought with them the photos of the MPs of the ruling My Step faction—and with the words, "Traitor" and "Liar," on them.

The police loudspeaker announces that it is prohibited to hold a rally now, as martial law is still in force in Armenia.

To note, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Monday night signed a joint statement on a complete cessation of hostilities in and around Artsakh. Accordingly, Russian peacekeepers will be deployed in the region to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire and the cessation of hostilities. But this statement also stipulates the handover of part of Artsakh lands to Azerbaijan.
