At least 28 people have been killed and another 73 were injured in a double suicide attack on a market in the Iraqi capital, BBC reported referring to the country's authorities.

An Iraqi army spokesman said that suicide bombers exploded in a clothing market. According to him, the officers of the special services pursued the suicide bombers, but they managed to explode before being neutralized.

The last suicide attack took place in Baghdad in January 2018. Such attacks on the civilian population of Iraq have claimed hundreds of lives in the last decade.

At the moment, none of the terrorist groups has claimed responsibility for the attack, but ISIS members have been more active than others in recent years in such attacks in Iraq.
