Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian today had a phone conversation with acting US Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Reeker.

The interlocutors exchanged views on issues on the bilateral agenda and particularly emphasized the role of the Armenia-US Strategic Dialogue platform in advancing and deepening the cooperation agenda. During the conversation, Aivazian and Reeker reaffirmed their mutual commitment to continuing efforts for further strengthening of Armenia-US relations.

During the phone conversation, the interlocutors also thoroughly touched upon regional security and stability. In the context of the actions being taken to address the consequences of the Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), Aivazian called his interlocutor’s attention to the inadmissibility of the creation of obstacles on the part of Azerbaijan for the solution to humanitarian issues, particularly the repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and civilian hostages.

The parties highlighted the fact that the pivotal issues related to the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must be addressed within the scope of the Co-Chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group which is clearly enshrined in the December 3 statement made by the top representatives of the co-chairing countries. Minister Aivazian attached special importance to the multiplication of efforts for the fight against xenophobia for the establishment of sustainable peace and security in the region, including by way of ruling out the repetition of massive violations of human rights.
