The guilty in the murder of an Armenian and an injury during a fight in the Belorechensk region of Russia's Krasnodar territory yesterday is an Azerbaijani—with the surname Hasanov, who has been declared wanted by the federal authorities. Konstantin Zatulin, a member of the Russian State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration, and Relations with Compatriots, said this during a videoconference on Wednesday.

He assured that the aforementioned tragedy in Belorechensk took place for domestic reasons, at a disco, and did not have a pronounced nature of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict on a national basis.

The MP added that the deceased is an Armenian—with the surname Sarukhanov, who was buried Wednesday. "The second victim is a Russian boy, who is now in hospital. He is receiving the necessary help. Two Azerbaijanis and a Russian on one side, and an Armenian and a Russian on the other side, took part in the fight. This is not an episode of the continuation of the fight in Nagorno-Karabakh [(Artsakh)]," Zatulin said.

He expressed hope that the guilty would be punished and that such a thing would not happen, at least within the framework of the interests of ethnic peace and reconciliation in Russia.
