During the war in Nagorno-Karabakh in 2020, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan personally declared that he is the Commander-in-Chief, even though he didn’t have the right to be the Commander-in-Chief at all. This is what member of the Committee on CIS and Relations with Russians Abroad of the Russian State Duma, MP Konstantin Zatulin said during a teleconference today.
“Firstly, the war was taking place in Nagorno-Karabakh. Secondly, the Prime Minister should become the Commander-in-Chief only during hostilities. A war hadn’t been officially declared,” Zatulin recalled.
The Russian MP concluded by saying that Pashinyan simply exploited the image of Commander-in-Chief for future political dividends.
