All types of troops are under the command of the Armed Forces during martial law, meaning all law-enforcement authorities submit to the commands of Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Onik Gasparyan, and for this reason, nobody has the right to detain him through those troops. This is what former Head of the General Department for Oversight of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, Major General of Justice Tatul Petrosyan told reporters today.

“I heard that the Prime Minister has assigned the National Security Service to detain Onik Gasparyan, but every officer understands what it means to be chief of the General Staff and knows who Onik Gasparyan is,” he stated.

Petrosyan explained that, according to the Constitution, the chief of the General Staff shall be granted a special status, and Article 155 states the ground for appointment or dismissal of the chief. The President promised to be objective, but he was repressed.

According to Petrosyan, the February 25 statement by the General Staff states that the government and the Prime Minister are incapable of performing their duties. Petrosyan also noted that there is no country in the world where not only people and organizations, but also Catholicoses and representatives of educational and academic institutions demand the resignation of the government.

Touching upon Nikol Pashinyan’s statement that only 10% was fired from the Iskander weapon, the Major General stated that the statement caused a lot of uproar since the weapon is the pride of Russia.
