YEREVAN. – The Azerbaijanis’ so-called "repair works" at the Ghazanchetsots Church in Shushi, Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) are a manifestation of barbarism. Lilit Makunts, head of the majority My Step faction in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, stated this at Tuesday’s session of the NA.

According to her, what was orchestrated by the Azerbaijani leadership can be described only as a policy of a racist state, which shows ethnic hatred towards Armenians. "The policy of the Azerbaijani leadership can only be described as barbarism. It is the policy of a state that creates the impression that it has no cultural history. This is the approach they [the Azerbaijanis] take to Armenian culture, trying to destroy all [its] traces," Makunts said.

She stressed that this issue should be at the focus of all international organizations and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs. "Ethnic hatred towards Armenians cannot go unnoticed," she added.

The Azerbaijanis have dismantled the domes of the Holy Savior Ghazanchetsots Armenian church in Shushi town, which they occupy now.
