Turkey and Azerbaijan are trying to push Russia and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) out of the region. This is what secretary of the opposition Prosperous Armenia faction of the National Assembly of Armenia Arman Abovyan told reporters today.

According to him, Baku and Ankara are inciting a conflict in the region, and this favors neither the CSTO nor Russia. Abovyan emphasized that Armenia must not let any country exert pressure.

“Both the CSTO and Russia are taking a path that arises from the final decision of the Government of Armenia. Russia and the CSTO are moving with Yerevan’s agenda. We need to understand that the enemy has infiltrated into our territory and wants to split Armenia into two. Turkey and Azerbaijan don’t intend to normalize ties with Armenia. They simply want to unite,” he stated.

According to him, all actions are leading to escalation of tension, and it is necessary to take other measures. He added that the more the Armenian government talks about demarcation and delineation and say that the Azerbaijanis won’t pull out their troops if there is no demarcation and delineation, the more the situation will be worse for the Armenian side.
