British organization Amnesty International has accused Israeli police of using excessive ruthless force against peaceful Palestinian protesters in East Jerusalem, Memo reports citing a press release from the organization.

The Israeli police have committed a range of violations against Palestinians in Israel and occupied East Jerusalem, including the unlawful use of force against peaceful demonstrators, mass arrests, and detainees subjected to torture and other ill-treatment, the press release said.

According to Amnesty International, the Israeli police failed to protect Palestinian Israeli citizens from deliberate attacks by armed groups of supporters of Jewish supremacy, given that the police had to be aware of the attacks in advance.

The organization added that the police used unnecessary and excessive force to disperse the Palestinian protests organized in response to forced evictions in East Jerusalem; and against the offensive in Gaza, while Jewish Suprematists were allowed to organize demonstrations.

Following its research, Amnesty International has called on the newly appointed UN Human Rights Council Commission of Inquiry to investigate the alarming pattern of Israeli police abuses.
