France has dismissed 3,000 doctors, nurses and other employees of medical institutions for refusing to get vaccinated against COVID-19, BBC reports.

A decree mandating vaccination for all medical workers, firefighters and employees of nursing homes is in effect. The French health minister says dismissal is a temporary measure until the employee gets vaccinated.

BBC also reports that the dismissal of medical workers has sparked protests in certain cities.
