The Constitutional Court of Armenia has found the draft law tabled by National Assembly speaker Alen Simonyan to be in accordance with the constitution of the country.

As per this bill, a person who insults will now pay a fine of up to 3 million drams instead of the previous 1 million drams, and in case of defamation—up to 6 million drams instead of the previous 2 million drams in Armenia.

To note, the President of the country had petitioned to the Constitutional Court with a request to determine the constitutionality of this proposed law.
