Our Russian colleagues have a clear understanding of the situation and share almost all of our notions and assessments. This is what Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan told reporters in parliament today.

Asked if it was possible to solve the issue related to the release of Armenian prisoners of war after his meetings in the Russian Federation and when they will be released, Simonyan said the following: “All the prisoners of war needed to be released a long time ago. Azerbaijan is de facto failing to fulfill its obligations through phony justifications. When we talk about the opening of roads, our prisoners of war are the first people who need to be returned through those roads. I can say that there were discussions with specific people, and I asked them to interfere. The Red Cross stated that there are reports about a female prisoner of war. Unfortunately, the Azerbaijani side isn’t confirming the news. I really hope we no longer talk about prisoners of war in the near future. This is one of Armenia’s primary objectives.”
