  • Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is on a working visit to Russia. The PM's spokeswoman, Mane Gevorgyan, on Tuesday wrote about this on Facebook and, also, posted a respective photo.

Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am had reported that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will pay a working visit to Russia on Tuesday.

Pashinyan will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. The parties will discuss the implementation of the trilateral statements of November 9, 2020 and January 11, 2021, as well as the further steps to strengthen stability, resumption of economic ties, and current developments in the region.

Also, Nikol Pashinyan and Vladimir Putin will discuss issues on the agenda of Armenian-Russian allied relations, as well as further cooperation in integration unions.

  • A meeting of the Minister of Defense of Armenia, Arshak Karapetyan, with his Russian counterpart Sergey Shoygu, took place Monday in Moscow.

They discussed Armenian-Russian cooperation in defense, the Armenian-Azerbaijani border situation, and regional security issues.

  • A murder took place in Yerevan Tuesday, shamshyan.com reported.

The police received a call informing them that an argument had taken place near a house, that a person had been stabbed.

During the quarrel, Yerevan resident, 46, had stabbed the Russian citizen, 46. 

Subsequently, this Russian national’s neighbor had taken him to a hospital, but he had died on the way.

A criminal case has been initiated into this incident.

  • An ambulance was called to the Vanadzor penitentiary of Armenia due to the sharp deterioration of the health condition of an inmate who was born in 1981.

The prisoner was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

This convict had a number of chronic illnesses and was under medical supervision at the medical unit of the Vanadzor prison for a long time.

Materials on this fact are being prepared.

A forensic medical examination has been ordered.

  • As of Tuesday morning, 903 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed in Armenia, and the total number of these cases has reached 273,860 in the country.

Also, 43 more deaths from COVID-19 were registered, making the respective total 5,618 cases.

  • Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler Malkhas Amoyan (72 kg) was declared champion at the World Wrestling Championship in Oslo.

During the final in the 72 kg category, Europe’s vice-champion competed with Russia’s representative Sergey Kutuzov and won 3-1.

Malkhas Amoyan, 22, has already been greeted with great pomp last night at Zvartnots International Airport in the capital Yerevan.

A large number of fans, numerous members of the Yazidi community, relatives, and friends were waiting for him in the arrival hall of the airport.

Due to the coronavirus-related restrictions, however, most of the relatives and fans were waiting outside Zvartnots for the newly-crowned world champion.
