The Department for Investigation of Heavy Crimes of the Yerevan Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia continues preliminary investigation of the criminal case regarding a prima facie attempt of fraud and bribery committed on the part of the deputy head of Nork-Marash district of Yerevan, the Investigative Committee of Armenia reports.

Today the court satisfied the motion of the body implementing proceedings to choose arrest as a pre-trial measure against the deputy head of the district.

As reported earlier, several circumstances behind the case were clarified through the investigative and other procedural actions, as well as the measures taken jointly with officers of the National Security Service. In particular, it was clarified that the deputy head of the district, presenting the community-owned plot of land located in Nor Nork district as his own and gaining the trust of a buyer, tried to sell it through fraud and embezzle a particularly large amount of money (AMD 4,834,800).

Investigators also obtained data according to which the deputy head of the district had reached an agreement with the buyer and taken a bribe ($4,000) to commit acts in favor of the buyer, within the scope of his powers.

A charge has been brought against the deputy head of the district, and arrest has been chosen as a pre-trial measure.

Preliminary investigation continues.
