Azerbaijan continues its policy of carrying out provocative actions on the border with Armenia. Eduard Aghajanyan, an MP from the majority “Civil Contract” Faction, stated about this at the National Assembly Tuesday.

"On November 14, the Azerbaijani armed forces, with the help of military equipment, invaded the territory of Armenia from one of the eastern parts of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. As a result of talks, most of the [Azerbaijani] military equipment and troops were withdrawn, but the Armenian side had positional losses," Aghajanyan stated.

He added that as a result of what happened, Azerbaijan has strengthened its current presence—due to its illegal penetration into the territory of Armenia on May 12—in the above-mentioned sector.

According to the MP, after the May 12 incursion, Azerbaijan has occupied about 41 square kilometers—at around 11 sectors—of the sovereign territory of Armenia.

"Azerbaijani authorities are making aggressive statements against Armenia, in essence, creating new territorial and security risks for Armenia. Violations of the ceasefire regime on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border are of a daily nature. This situation poses a direct risk to Armenia, which is a CSTO member country," Aghajanyan said.

He noted that after May 12, Armenia had made an initiative to send a CSTO mission—in accordance with the CSTO crisis response procedure—to monitor the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

"Unfortunately, the initiative has not been brought to fruition yet. I call on the Armenian government to make an initiative to send a CSTO observation mission to the Armenian-Azerbaijani border," Eduard Aghajanyan stressed.

Also, he called on his fellow Armenian MPs to make statements at all international instances to explain and inform about the aggressive policy of Azerbaijan and its occupation of the territories of Armenia.
