Turkish Justice Minister Abdulhamit Gul announced his resignation, the reasons for which he did not name, Interfax reports.

“With the approval of our esteemed President, I am resigning from the position of Attorney General in which I have served since July 19, 2017,” he tweeted on Saturday.

Gul thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for accepting his resignation.

The Turkish Ministry of Justice will be headed by Bekir Bozdag, his appointment to the post of minister is mentioned in the same presidential decree that approved Gul's resignation.

Bozdag previously served as chairman of the Turkish Supreme College of Judges, and was also a deputy prime minister.
