Turkey has raised the level of readiness of demining units and other services due to the continuing threat of drifting mines, said Turkish Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar.

Turkish mine-detecting vessels, aircraft, helicopters, drones and sappers have been put on high alert. The country is closely monitoring the situation. When an alarm is received, their immediately react, NTV reported citing the minister.

He also noted that the situation with drifting mines in the Black Sea did not lead to difficulties with maritime traffic in the Bosporus.

The head of the Defense Ministry said that to date, three mines have been cleared near the Bosphorus.

Some figures are given regarding the number of drifting mines, he said.
