The Egyptian authorities have reclassified 70 percent of resort hotels in accordance with international standards, according to ATOR.

To date, the check has been completed in 71 hotels in the resort of Hurghada and in 64 objects in the tourist area of South Sinai.

Star rating was downgraded for 97 placements in the Red Sea. In Hurghada, there are 47 (66 percent of the peer-reviewed), and in Sharm el-Sheikh - 50, or 78 percent of those tested.

Most often, four-star hotels (60 percent of all inspected) did not correspond to the level of the declared star rating. Their owners have been ordered to put the hotels in order so as not to mislead tour operators and vacationers.

In addition, due to non-compliance with sanitary and other requirements for a safe stay, licenses for hotel activities were canceled at 15 facilities: seven in the Red Sea region and eight in South Sinai. The process of reviewing the "stars" of Egyptian hotels is scheduled to be completed by mid-summer.
