Peugeot has presented a new generation of the 408, the press service of the brand reported.

The car has a fundamentally new design and now does not look like a sedan like its predecessors but like a cross-coupe, although Peugeot calls this body a fastback.

The length of the new Peugeot 408 is 4690 mm and the wheelbase reaches 2790 mm. The boot space is 536 liters and when the rear seats are folded down it increases to 1611 liters. The cabin has a compact steering wheel, as well as a multimedia system with a 10-inch touchscreen display on the center console. The car is equipped with six video cameras, adaptive cruise control, pedestrian and cyclist warning systems on the road, blind-spot monitoring function, a warning system of approaching objects when reversing.

On the European market, the model will be offered with three powertrain options. These are two hybrid versions with 180 and 225 hp engines, and a modification with a petrol engine rated at 130 hp. The gearbox is the same for all the cars - an eight-speed 'automatic'.

The new Peugeot 408 will go on sale in early 2023. The production of the model will be set up at the brand's plant in Mulhouse, France.
