Israeli authorities may allow Iran to supply oil to Syria ahead of the resumption of negotiations on a nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers.

Three tankers are already heading from Iran to Syria, The Times of Israel reported, citing an unconfirmed source.

According to the newspaper, Iran was demanded not to use ships for the transportation of weapons and to make the process of transporting oil as transparent as possible.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell earlier confirmed at a press conference that negotiations on a nuclear deal with Iran are being prepared. Prior to this, similar statements were made by the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

Representatives of the US presidential administration assured the Senate of Washington's readiness to tighten sanctions against Iran in the event of failure of negotiations to restore the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear program. According to Politico, US officials provided relevant guarantees to legislators as part of a closed briefing.
