In recent times, we have had organizational difficulties, they did not provide us with [session] halls, they also refused to allocate the government [sessions’] hall—where the Declaration of Independence was adopted—for holding our event. Edgar Ghazaryan—the former ambassador of Armenia to Poland, former chief of staff of the Constitutional Court of Armenia, and opposition figure—said this at Tuesday’s symbolic session of the Supreme Council of Armenia—and dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence of Armenia.

He explained that the Armenian authorities are trying to create inconvenience for them at any cost.

"At the last moment, even the representatives of the private sector refused to provide us with [session] halls," said the opposition member.

Ghazaryan informed that the first chairman of the Supreme Council, the First president of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, was to conduct the aforesaid session.

"I asked for a meeting with him in order to invite him to the event and present my ideas. But unfortunately the meeting did not take place," the former ambassador emphasized.

The aforesaid event’s organizer assured that the initiative has no political component, and it is just a request for help to face the existing challenge.

"Today, we should be guided by the state interests of Armenia and put aside all other interests, lower all flags, and raise only one flag: the flag of Armenia. We are standing before a painful reality, we see risks of loss of Armenian statehood," Edgar Ghazaryan concluded.
