In August, the number of tourists visiting Armenia was about 262 thousand—slightly "south" of the 2019 indicator. Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan noted this on Facebook.

"It is noteworthy that 63% of tourists arrived [in Armenia] by Zvartnots [International Airport of Yerevan], which seems to be a record during the entire history of Zvartnots for the number of passengers arriving monthly (we will check this further).

In the months of July and August, an acute shortage of hotel rooms was felt in Armenia; and in this regard, I invite the attention of investors and businessmen who have an interest toward this sector," Kerobyan added.

According to the respective data publicized by the economy minister, a total of 1.03 million tourists arrived in Armenia in January-August this year, which is 160 thousand more than in the same period last year (870 thousand).

During the aforementioned period, 45% of the tourists who came to Armenia were from Russia, 9%—from Georgia, 7%—from Iran, 3%—from the US, and 1%—from Germany.

And about 60 percent of tourists arriving in Armenia were men.
