Azerbaijan has unleashed new brutal attacks on the sovereign territory of Armenia, stretching across the Syunik, Gegharkunik and Vayotc Dzor provinces, Member of the House of Lords of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Baroness Caroline Cox said in a statement.

"It is not only attacking military bases but civilian communities and infrastructures.

"Armenia’s Ministry of Defence has confirmed that at 00:05 on September 13, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces began intensive shelling of Armenian positions from artillery and large-calibre guns also utilizing UAVs.

"These heinous acts have followed impunity for Azerbaijani war crimes and reflect their genocidal policy. The attacks demonstrate the severity of Azerbaijan’s threats and the way in which the conflict is so closely connected to the Russia-Ukrainian war. As the Russian army

has performed poorly in recent days, this has given Azerbaijan and Turkey every opportunity to launch an attack.

"It is clear that Azerbaijan has no intention for peace. The number of Armenian casualties is still to be verified. There are reports that 49 Armenian soldiers have been killed, 25 are missing and at least 14 appear to have been captured.

"As the full-scale attacks continue, Armenia has asked Russia, CSTO, and UN to intervene, civilians are under attack and Azeris took some territories too.

"There is a very urgent need for the international community including the UK to condemn Azerbaijan and to call it to account for war crimes and crimes against humanity," the statement came.
