Belarus expects to become a member of the SCO in a year. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, BelTA informs.

"The next meeting is in India, and I've set a task for all the authorities and the Foreign Ministry, first of all, to go this way in a year (the organization will not meet earlier)," said Lukashenko.

According to the regulations on the admission of new members to the SCO, the applicant state must accede to the existing international treaties of the organization (and there are about 40 of them) and make the necessary changes to national legislation. For example, it took Iran more than a year and a half. "It has gone the same way that we have to go.  We'll do it in a year," said Lukashenko.
