The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France has advised French citizens in Iran to leave Iran as soon as possible.

"Taking into account the risks of arbitrary detention, we urge the French citizens who are in Iran to leave the country as soon as possible," reads the respective statement.

The ministry noted that the French nationals in Iran are at risk of arrest and unfair trial.

"In this context, the resources of the French embassy in Tehran to ensure the protection of its citizens are very limited," the statement also notes.
