YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily of Armenia writes: The opening ceremony of the Iranian consulate general will take place today in the Kapan community of Syunik Province.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian is on an official visit to Armenia since yesterday. He, together with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, will attend the opening ceremony of the consulate.

It is noteworthy that the renovation work in the consulate building has not yet been completed, but a decision has been made to open it with a solemn ceremony; it is assumed—on the initiative of the Iranian side.

The thing is that, as reported by our sources in Syunik, the provincial authorities were not even aware of the event expected today, and it actually took place spontaneously.

Let's remind that the government of Iran had made a decision to open a consulate general in Syunik back in December 2021, and after that appointed Abedin Varami as the consul general of Iran.
