President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko believes it is necessary to make every effort to resolve the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, he said in Yerevan at a session of the CSTO Collective Security Council in a narrow format.

"We have said it many times, that societies within our countries are trying to shake - just on the perimeter of the Russian Federation," he said. "First Ukraine went up in flames, in 2020 they tried to ruin Belarus. We've been through it - the Belarusians. In January of this year - Kazakhstan (it's good that Kazakhstan's leadership there coped with this conflict). The conflict of Armenia and Azerbaijan. I'll repeat what I said at the extraordinary session of the SCB on October 28 - we want the conflict between the two neighboring and friendly states to be resolved peacefully".

"I think I will express everyone's opinion. We are not on the sidelines. We are not, as Nikol Pashinyan (Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan) said here, that the CSTO has not deterred Azerbaijan from aggression. It is not our business to deter anyone. But the fact is that we have to react. We are ready to respond," said the Belarusian leader.

He noted that Russia is currently carrying out a mediation mission in this issue, which both Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed to. "Let's move in that direction. Let's come to an agreement, let's do everything so that people don't die there. This will be gladly accepted in the Armenian and Azerbaijani society," Lukashenko believes.

"Yes, Nikol Vovayevich, there are nuances. And serious ones, maybe. But we can fundamentally resolve this conflict, which may flare up again, now. With the desire, first of all, of the leadership of Armenia. And of course Azerbaijan. By the way, I will speak about it. This is one of the priorities of the Belarusian presidency. We must not turn a blind eye to it. Whether we can solve this problem or not, it should be in the focus of attention of the CSTO," he said.

According to him, it is important to maintain allied relations. "In this turbulent and rapidly changing world, our allied relations must remain a constant value. We must not be allowed to be quarrelsome, to sow the seeds of contradiction and discord between us. The future of both our countries and our organization will depend on it."
