Closing the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijanis is problematic. Eduard Aghajanyan, Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia and a member of the ruling majority “Civil Contract” Faction in the NA, stated this during Tuesday’s press conference of the members of the Armenian delegation to the OSCE PA—and referring to the closing of the aforesaid corridor for some time on December 3.

"In the corresponding point of the statement of November 9, [2020] it is recorded that the Lachin Corridor shall operate only under the control of Russian peacekeepers, and the connection between Armenia and Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh)] shall be unhindered. In this context, any hindering phenomenon or detail is unacceptable to us. What happened a few days ago in the area of the Lachin Corridor—and as a result of which it was de facto closed—is naturally problematic. We believe that, together with the Russian peacekeeping mission, we must do our utmost to prevent such situations from happening again," Aghajanyan said.

As reported earlier, on December 3, a group of Azerbaijanis in civilian clothes had temporarily blocked the Stepanakert-Goris motorway at the Shushi-Karin Tak intersection—and for “environmental” reasons.
