The UAE passport has become the world's number one in terms of mobility and freedom from travel restrictions, according to the latest publication of the Passport Index by Montreal-based financial consulting firm Arton Capital.

The UAE surpassed countries such as Germany, Sweden, Finland and Luxembourg in the latest ranking, although all of these countries are in the top five.

In fact, if you are an Emirati passport holder, you can travel without a visa to a huge number of countries, and get a visa in many others immediately upon arrival. Emirati passport holders can enter 121 countries without a visa and obtain a visa on arrival in an additional 59 countries. They need a visa for only 19 countries, which means they can visit 91% of the world without having to apply for a visa before they travel.

Worldwide coverage of the U.S. passport is for 83% of the world, compared to 91% of the UAE.

The UAE received 180 points for mobility, the privilege of arriving in other countries, and "the higher the mobility score, the better global mobility the passport holder has," the report said.
