The jury of the prestigious World Car of the Year award has published a list of ten finalists who will compete for the title of winner.
Alfa Romeo Tonale, BMW 2 Series Coupe, BMW X1 / iX1, Honda HR-V (ZR-V), Hyundai Ioniq 6, Kia Niro, Mazda CX-60, Mercedes-Benz C-Classe, Nissan Ariya and Nissan Z are contenders for the main title in 2023.
A separate category to select the best electric car includes the BMW i7, Genesis GV60, Hyundai Ioniq 6, Kia Niro EV and Lucid Air. BMW 7 Series / i7, Genesis G90, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Lucid Air will compete for the title of best luxury car.
The BMW M4 CSL, Kia EV6 GT, Nissan Z, Porsche 911 (992) GT3 RS or Toyota GR Corolla may be voted best sports car. The Citroen C3, ORA Funky Cat (Haomao) and Volkswagen Taigo/Nivus are in the Urban Car of the Year category.
Finally, the award for best design could go to the Cadillac Lyriq, Hyundai Ioniq 6, Range Rover, Lucid AIR or Nissan Z. Juried by 100 auto journalists from 32 countries, the award winners will be announced April 5 during the International Auto Show in New York City.
