Kazakhstan's national company KazTransOil has started receiving Kazakh oil for transportation to Germany, the pipeline operator's press service said on Thursday.

"Today, February 23, the system of main oil pipelines of JSC KazTransOil began receiving Kazakh oil for transportation to Germany... According to the oil delivery schedule approved by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, KazTransOil JSC will transport in February 20 thousand tons of Kazakh oil through the Druzhba oil pipeline to the Adamova Zastava oil delivery point for further delivery to Germany," the company said in its report.

The German government said in September 2022 that it would negotiate with Kazakhstan to buy oil transported via the Druzhba pipeline to provide additional volumes for the Schwedt refinery and to replace oil from Russia. Now Kazakhstan uses the Druzhba pipeline for transit, sending about 10 million tons of oil per year to the port in Ust-Luga.
