Moldova begins the process of withdrawal from dozens of agreements within the CIS, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu said on Thursday on local TV channel.

According to him, the republic is a party to about 330 CIS agreements, many of which need revision. "There are agreements that either don't suit us, or don't work anymore, or don't apply, or don't benefit Moldova," Popescu said.

He recalled that Moldova intends to join the EU, so "all foreign policy objectives and participation in international organizations will be subordinated to European integration."

"On this basis, the withdrawal from CIS agreements that are incompatible with our goals will continue. An analysis of the necessity of many agreements signed during the period of the republic's membership in the CIS is being carried out. This list will be published," Popescu said, noting that it is planned to withdraw from about 20 agreements only through the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
