
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Monday received the newly appointed Iranian ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, the PM's office informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.
First, the PM congratulated the ambassador on the occasion of being appointed to a new position and expressed hope that during his term of office Armenia-Iran relations will continue to develop and strengthen.
Pashinyan emphasized that the two countries must maintain active communication during the difficult period in the region. The Armenian premier stressed that there is a reliable dialogue with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, which contributes to the consistent deepening of Armenian-Iranian interaction.
Ambassador Sobhani, for his part, emphasized the interest of the Iranian government to develop relations with Armenia in all domains. The diplomat once again pointed to the clear position of the Iranian side regarding the supporting of Armenia's territorial integrity.
Sobhani expressed his concerns regarding the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, and underscored the importance of protecting the security and rights of Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians.
The interlocutors touched also upon a number of matters on the agenda of Armenian-Iranian relations. In particular, the implementation of joint programs in economy, trade and economic relations, infrastructure development, health care, education, science, culture, and some other domains were discussed.
