The Azerbaijani State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons is ready to work together with Armenia to ensure the search for missing persons from both sides. This was noted in a statement of the aforesaid commission published by the Azerbaijani media.

"The State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons of the Republic of Azerbaijan welcomes the news statement of the same-named institution of the Republic of Armenia regarding its readiness for cooperation in determining the fate of missing persons in military operations and, as always, considers it acceptable to combine efforts in this direction," the aforesaid statement noted.

The statement added that after the 44-day war in 2020, a total of 1,713 dead bodies were found and handed over to the Armenian side, after the military aggression of Azerbaijan on September 12-14, 2022—157 bodies, and after the complete Azerbaijani occupation of Nagorno-Karabakh on September 19-20, 2023—173 dead bodies.

"In the First Garabagh [(Karabakh)] War [in the early 1990s], 3890 Azerbaijani citizens were registered with the State Commission as missing persons, and as of January 1, 2024, based on available information, only the remains of 25 individuals have been identified," the statement added.
