The UN General Assembly has observed a minute of silence in honor of Iran's president during a plenary session.

"I now invite the representatives (of the UN General Assembly - ed.) to stand and observe a minute of silence in memory of His Excellency Syed Ebrahim Raisi," said Dennis Francis, chairman of the 78th session of the UNGA. He also asked Iran's Permanent Representative to the UN to convey the condolences of the General Assembly to the government, the nation of Iran, and the family of the late president.
