The Emergency Department of Turkey publicized the number of tremors and aftershocks that were registered ever since the devastating earthquake that hit the country’s Van Province on October 23, 2011.  

In line with the Department’s data, a total of 9,367 quakes and aftershocks—ranging between magnitude 1.5 and 5.8—were registered in Van, from October 23, 2011 to April 2012, Hurriyet daily of Turkey informs.  

The magnitude-7.2 earthquake that hit Van on October 23, 2011 had claimed 604 lives and injured more than 4,000 people.
