YEREVAN. – Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia (RA), Karen Karapetyan, on Tuesday traveled to the Russian Federation (RF) capital city of Moscow, on an official visit, reported Haykakan Zhamanak (Armenian Time) newspaper.

“It is noteworthy that no RA PM has left for the RF on an official visit for about 10 years already. And it seemed a taboo. (…). Karen Karapetyan has actually broken this taboo.

“By not ‘sending’ any PM under him to Moscow on an official visit, [Armenian President] Serzh Sargsyan was recording that he is the sole ‘decider’ in relations with Russia.

“[But] the [respective] situation is changing with Karen Karapetyan’s official visit. The Russian side is recording that the primary role in relations with Armenia is now reserved for Karen Karapetyan. From this viewpoint, RA PM Karen Karapetyan’s visit to Moscow should be regarded as historic,” wrote Haykakan Zhamanak.
