YEREVAN. – The political force that won Sunday’s parliamentary election, the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), is already making future plans, according to Irates (Realistic) newspaper.

“Taking into account the percentages [of the votes] it received [over 49%, according to preliminary results], it turns out the RPA does not need a lot of support [in forming a new government], and it will be satisfied with the [respective] cooperation it had previously.

“According to our RPA sources, this party has started considering that it is better to again form a coalition in parliament with the ‘old friends,’ the [Armenian Revolutionary Federation] ARF [Dashnaktsutyun Party]; that is, to close the road of cooperation with Tsarukyan Bloc [which received the second most number of votes in the election], the same as the PAP [opposition Prosperous Armenia Party].

“However, according to the same source, it is too early to speculate, since there may be another arrangement between [President and RPA Chairman] Serzh Sargsyan and [PAP Chairman and businessman MP] Gagik Tsarukyan [who led Tsarukyan Bloc in Sunday’s National Assembly election],” wrote Irates.
