YEREVAN. – The reformed constitution specifies that at least … of the total number of MPs has the right to nominate a presidential candidate; and solely the ruling Republican Party of Armenia as well as the “Tsarukyan” Faction have this number of deputies at the National Assembly, wrote Zhamanak (Time) newspaper.

“[But] according to our information, the [opposition] ‘Way Out’ Faction also has started talks with the Tsarukyan bloc, with a proposal to have a joint presidential candidate, expressing willingness to support the candidate to be nominated by the Tsarukyan bloc.

“Also, it was proposed that the Tsarukyan bloc support the candidate nominated by Way Out, if a decision is made at the bloc as to not to nominate a presidential candidate [of its own],” wrote Zhamanak.
