YEREVAN. – Some employees of the fire and rescue squad of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of Armenia are submitting letters of resignation, Zhoghovurd (People) newspaper reported.

“The [MES] employees petitioning to Zhoghovurd daily reported that they work under a hectic schedule and, in exchange for it, receive a 80-thousand-dram [monthly] salary, with which they are unable to take care of their families.

“Zhoghovurd daily spoke with Minister Feliks Tsolakyan, about the discontent of the rescue squad employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, who confirmed that rescuers have worked under an extraordinary situation due to many fires.

‘“Anyone who has worked more is given a bonus. We are finalizing the government’s draft decision so that I can raise the salary of the ordinary staff. In addition, I give a reward in the amount of the salary, on every quarter month. The system is flexible, all employees are valued,’ the minister assured,” Zhoghovurd wrote.
