STEPANAKERT. – Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov ought to recall the OSCE’s 1992 formulation on Karabakh, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic MP Vahram Atanesyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am commenting on Azimov’s recent statements.

He noted that there can be no issue of negotiations between Karabakh Armenians and the Azerbaijanis who used to live there.

“The OSCE’s 1992 formulation on the talks considers Armenia, Azerbaijan as well as [Nagorno-Karabakh’s] NK’s elected and other representatives as the negotiating parties. With this, I understand either the President and the MPs, or those persons appointed by them. There can be no other explanation. It is incomprehensible why this is not clear for Azimov, who was the Azerbaijani president’s special representative on Karabakh for fifteen years,” Vahram Atanesyan added.

To note, Araz Azimov had stated that Azerbaijan had put forward a number of initiatives on confidence-building measures, but Armenia had refused to accept them. He had also stated that “Azerbaijan proposed a dialogue with the Azerbaijanis of Nagorno-Karabakh and their neighbors, the Armenians.”
