YEREVAN. – Even though the new Electoral Code of Armenia will enter into force on Wednesday, this does not mean that we will have common approaches as a result of further discussions, and that we cannot make amendments to the Electoral Code.

Hovhannes Sahakyan, Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, told the aforementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“I don’t think that there is a clear deadline as to when these discussions will start,” noted Sahakyan. “What’s essential is that we have a common approach on key issues.”

The opposition argues that if consensus is reached, the international community will assist in installing voting oversight mechanisms at the polling stations in Armenia.
