The strong earthquake in Venezuela has killed 32 people and injured another 700, acting President Delcy Rodriguez stated.

"We have 32 confirmed deaths so far, not counting the numbers that may yet come from the state of La Guaira. More than 700 injured people have been admitted to emergency departments in public hospitals and private medical centers," Rodriguez said.

Rescuers are currently working at the site of a building collapse in the Pintos-Alinos neighborhood; they are searching for people under the rubble. According to preliminary data, there may be three more people under the debris. Searches at the site of another, third, collapsed house have already yielded results. Rescuers pulled two survivors out of the wreckage there and ambulanced them to the hospital.
