The Fourth Criminal Court in Damascus has sentenced Wassim al-Assad, a cousin of ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, to death, SANA reports.

The court found him guilty of “intentional killings and acts of torture constituting crimes against humanity and war crimes.”

The court said the investigations established that Wassim al-Assad was involved in forming irregular armed groups that targeted civilian areas and committed massacres.

On August 11, the Fourth Criminal Court in Damascus had also sentenced Bashar al-Assad and several other former Syrian officials to death after convicting them of crimes including premeditated murder, torture, arbitrary detention, and crimes against humanity.
