Suzuki Motor has decided to increase sales of its previous generation Alto models, Drom.ru reports.
The production of the previous Alto was discontinued in Japan back in 2021, but its production equipment was transferred to the Pakistani branch, which became the sole manufacturer of the old Alto.
Now Suzuki has announced that for the first time it has started selling cars produced by the local branch outside Pakistan.
The previous Alto of the South Asian assembly will begin to be offered in the Brunei market in the fall.
The Japanese company plans to expand the geographical scope of sales of Pakistani small cars, which is expected to help the branch increase production.
The old Suzuki Alto of Pakistani production is simplified compared to the model being made in Japan. It is equipped with a 660 cubic centimeter engine with a power of only 40 horsepower. It works with a 5-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and is offered only with front-wheel drive. In Japan, however, the Alto had at least 49 horsepower, and was offered with an all-wheel drive version also.
