BMW has introduced a new top-of-the-line version of its next-generation 3 Series, the M350. The car will have a 3.0-liter inline-six engine with a capacity of 437 horsepower, which is 50 horsepower more than in the previous M340i, Autocar reports.

The engine will work in conjunction with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system. The M350 will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, and its maximum speed will be 250 km/h.

The main feature of this novelty is its drift mode, which will appear for the first time in a version of the 3 Series that does not belong to the full M family. In this mode, the system will be able to transfer traction only to the rear wheels, making it easier to control the car during a skid.

However, this function will not be available immediately after the car’s release; BMW plans to add it next year via a software update. The M350 will have a standard steel suspension, and two versions of adaptive dampers will be available as an option: tuned for comfort, and with a stiffer M setting. In addition, the car will be equipped with sports tires of different widths: 245 mm at the front and 275 mm at the rear.

The first cars of the new generation of 3 Series with internal combustion engines will go on sale later this year, after the i3 electric version. Also, BMW is preparing a new generation of the M3, which will appear next year and will be available with both a gasoline and electric powertrain.
